option in clinical dentistry, requiring proper diagnosis and case selection. Patients present with variable osseous anatomy at the proposed implant location, often making it difficult for the dentist to determine if sufficient bone is present in which to place an implant. Using 2-dimensional radiography (including panoramic, periapical, and bitewing radiographs), which may not allow the dentist to adequately assess the form and density of bone at the recipient site, the dentist typically fabricates a surgical guide using a mounted cast and the radiographs. Several techniques for fabricating a surgical guide have been proposed, including the use of acrylic resin and vacuum-formed guides, among others.1-6 The use of surgical guides aides in the correct placement of implants. The intent is to ensure proper implant placement so prosthodontic complications can be minimized. Recently, implant surgery has incorporated computer-guided technology that enables the dentist to evaluate fully the osseous morphol-

Implant prosthodontics means restoring function, aesthetics, and providing technology; biology and technology are combined. Placement of implants...

Full arch restoration with computer-assisted implant surgery and immediate loading in edentulous ridges with dental fresh extraction sockets. One year results of 10 consecutively treated patients: guided implant surgery and extraction sockets.

There is a growing need for patients to be rehabilitated with a fixed, implant-supported prosthesis immediately after surgery. The present study aims to describe the results of a modified prosthetic and surgical protocol of computer-assisted implant insertion and immediate loading in edentulous jaws with extraction sockets. Ten patients were consecutively treated with a modified computer assist...

Standard, cylindrical abutments were initially used in the treatment of edentulous and partially edentulous patients. These abutments were not designed to simulate the natural emergence profiles of individual teeth. Custom abutments were often the treatment of choice for partially edentulous patients and were successful in replicating the emergence profiles of missing natural teeth. One of the ...
